Notre-Dame of Vernusses
Notre-Dame
de Vernusse is a virgin in majesty in drowning of XIIème century. It is
72 cm high. Until the revolution, it was always venerated in the young
elm or it was discovered. However, Vernusse comes from “vern”, which
wants to say alder…
It
is for the moment in a small vault, in the middle of the hamlet of
Vernusses, on the commune of Bresnay. This black virgin of any beauty
seems forgotten of all. Fortunately, recently, the mayor promised that
it would send somebody from time to time to clean the place. The lady
is connected to Notre-Dame de Rocamadour and works with fire.
Saint-Bathélémy church of Bresnay
From
the Middle Ages, the history of Besnay is related to that Souvigny. The
parish belongs to the chatellenie of Verneuil and the old diocese of
Clermont.
The St. Bartholomew's Day Massacre church comprises a nave of tois spans and two collateral.
The apse is flanked of two absidioles. The plan in was altered several
times. Thus, the original vault does not exist any more. Outside, the
bedside of XIIème century is excentric compared to the whole of the
building.
The gate date completion of the Romance time and has posts with leafy capitals.
At the XVIIIème century, the nave is remade and the rebuilt bell-tower.
A
polychrome stone furnace bridge represents the martyr of Sebastien
Saint, surrounded by two famous archers, Saint Crepin and holy
Crépinien. It is classified with the historic buildings.
The
baptismal funds are of XVème century, always out of polychrome stone.
They octagonal and contiguous to a square swimming pool, are decorated
with not identified blazons.
Does a statue of Holy Anne out of
wooden, of the XVI ème century, hold the virgin in her arms and learns
how to him to read (the knowledge shows him?)
