Mazirat_Freydefond_4a

Mazirat_Freydefond_7aBut there, we have to make in Freydefond, and Freyda is not far. Water flows dry stone well in an old laundrette, which, if I believe about it my felt, does not go back to today. It seems to to me that the places are kept, and that a door accomodates us.

Vault-with-Huntings

La_chapelle_aux_chasses_6aSainte Anne is the owner of the commune and the church. Not far from the central place, while leaving on the line the church, at the end of a small way, the fountain Holy-Anne is. She probably flows in a basin Gallic time. The statue of holy, in its niche, is of invoice much more recent…

We are in the presence of the old worship with the Ana goddess. The water of the fountain is famous to cure the ocular diseases. Look at-well!

La_chapelle_aux_chasses_8a“As the Janus god who had two faces, Ana is not only one goddess of the fertility, but also a goddess of death, underground world and beyond, which reigns on the marshes (ana, into Gallic), considered like the entry of the hells. Goddess of the life and death, it is at the same time, like the ground itself, symbol of fruitfulness and decomposition, all being born from the ground and turning over to the ground.
The worship of the Ana goddess remained either in the worship of Marie, in particular as “a black virgin”, or in that of holy Anne, mother of Marie. When François Villon requests Marie by appointing it “emperière of the infernal fens”, he recalls that Marie reigns, like Dana, on the underground world, whose marshes are an access.
Easter Sunday 776, the day of the dedication of the cathedral of Apt, in the presence of Charlemagne, was found, says one, the body of Anne. A blind man, deaf person and dumb man of birth, started to excavate the ground as if it sought something. One dug at once at this place, and one discovered an underground, enlightened vault by a lamp. The disabled person miraculeusement was miraculeusement cured and one found in the underground vault a mounting carrying the inscription: “Difficulty is corpus beatae Annae matris virginis Mariae” (Here the body of happy Anne is, mother of the Virgin Mary).
Chapelle_aux_Chasses__9_It is starting from the cathedral of Apt where the relics of holy had been discovered that its worship seemed to develop in Europe. However, the devotion with holy Anne, very strong in Brittany and very definitely identifiable in Switzerland, is certainly older than this discovery. Let us remember to understand it that none the Gospels names the parents of Marie. “http://www.arbredor.com/edh/dieux.html

Ana, also known under the names of Anna, Dana, Anu, Danu (or Dôn in Wales), is the “Goddess-Mother” in Celtic mythology, it which gives its name auxTuatha Dé Danann, people of the Dana goddess, in the Irish tradition.

Fountain St Rémy in Saint Sauvier

Saint_Sauvier_aThe parish of Saint-Sauvier, in extreme cases To combine it and of Hollow, was founded at the beginning of VIème century, into 501, by Saint Remi, came in the country following the armies from Clovis, in order to drive out the Visigoths.

Saint_Sauvier__4_aThere was already in this place a very old, Celtic or Gallo-Roman source. Remi saint, says one, to put an end to the practices idolâtres, blesses the source, and with its water, cures those which came to him. The inhabitants, struck by these miracles, destroyed the crowned enclosure of the sanctuary and raised a vault.

Saint_Sauvier__8_aThe current vault, dedicated to Jean-baptiste, was built at the XVIIème century on the fountain. Of high flow, it flows in a empierré basin. The source leaves under the nave, or is, in a niche located at the top of the fountain, a statue of Marie-madeleine.
Saint_Sauvier__7_b

Fountain St Patrocle in Colombier

Fontaine_Saint_Patrocle___Colombier_8aIn addition to the church, the devotion with Patrocle saint is centered on the fountain. This water, always fresh, is famous to have therapeutic virtues. The legend reports that this one lacking water when it built the monastery, it launched a hammer of such force that it fell down to nearly 300 meters by creating the source. Others call the place “the hammer of Thor”. However, it is Sucellus, the Gallic god, who would have been placed best: “Sucellus, god with the mallet and the cauldron, guard of fruitfulness, it makes spout out the woodland sources by striking the ground of its mass. It was compared to Sylvain or Vulcan. One represents it in the shape of an old man or a man of ripe age, vêtu with Gallic of a tunic with hood, braies and boots, and carrying a mallet and sometimes a cauldron, often accompanied by a dog. It is often accompanied by the Nantosvelta goddess. Contrary to the other Gallic gods, who have their equivalent in Ireland and in Wales, one finds it only in Gaule. ”
The source is famous for the cure of the skin diseases and so that the girls to be married find a partner. It is enough for celà that they soak twice their foot right in the last basin. A procession with the fountain takes place last Sunday of July. The pélerinage with Saint Patrocle, survival probable of a Gallic worship, ceased only in 1970.

Born in the area from Bourges, Patrocle intruisit very quickly in sciences, the letters crowned and profane. The bishop of Bourges ordered it deacon at the twenty-five years age, then archdeacon. One regarded it as one of the most cultivated holiest men and of his time.
Become the tutor of wire of Clodomir, king of Frank, it had been able to live at the court, to be one of the advisers of the kingdom. The honors did not try it, a sumptuous existence was not appropriate for its character. The secular clergy appeared to him even too much attached to the wordly goods. It had the burning desire to be devoted only to God and it was withdrawn in loneliness, there to live, request, meditate. Caption of Patrocle Saint

Fontaine_Saint_Patrocle___Colombier_5aIt stopped in Neris where it built a house, an oratory and a school. The cures which it operated were worth him the reputation of holiness. Seeking loneliness, it left with its spade and its axe to two edges, and settled as a hermit with That, in the forest. Ten years later, it set out again for Colombier where it melted a monastery. The monastery was sold to the priory of Souvigny to XIème century.

Fontaine_Saint_Patrocle___Colombier_2aWe thus have there a saint carrying the francisque one, or the expensive hammer with the Scandinavian gods, a miraculous source, i.e. mud-laden water, the hermitage in the forest, the hind partner of the saint… Here are many ingredients leaving paraitre a bottom of druidism. When with the shape of the fountain itself, with its three basins, round, rectangular square and, us y plunged here. The waves of form of the basins make the remainder.
One can see, in the first basin of round form, the water which bubbles.

Fontaine_Saint_Patrocle___Colombier_10athe place was christianized, but of very beautiful trees still surround this miraculous fountain which flows in the field downwards.

Fontaine_Saint_Patrocle___Colombier_12a

With the Saint-Patrocle fountain, christianization of an old pagan worship, probably with Dispater, L one thus finds the remainders preserved well of collectings Gallo-Roman of the source.

The collecting of the source is a Gallic well of beams, as in Voingt.
