Saint Michael's Mount
Saint Michael's Mount….Who didn't dream of him?
Reflexions after a visit with the mount of a fellow traveller… Calou, we miss you!
“Dragon of the Sky, Dragon of the Earth ..... or a dream of dragon to sweep the apparent Manicheism of the principal representations of the forces of the life? The Lady pressing with the foot the reptile, Michel making in the same way the sword with the hand.
The Lady, stamps untiring, available, alleviating, protective, in permanent offering.
If It is familiar, it will have been necessary to wait to touch with the sword of fire to feel until the bottom of the entrails the way of Michel, L through destruction in the name of right anger and not knowing the doubt.
One and the other so complementary… A lord to protect his lady, a lady to legitimate her lord.
And this dream of dragon.
A
dream or the Lady teaches with a nth degree of interpretation the
draconic gasoline of a man who wants to be to act for it. An image
moreover to make represented of the Lady and Michel well a sympathetic
nerve history, which is summarized in a question: Who is the dragon of
which?
Matric will to alleviate the destroying force, the sword of justice to control the frenzy of creation?
Isn't Michel this dragon of the Lady when it is time to put the sword at the sleeve? Isn't the Lady this dragon that Michel must retain when the desire of creation becomes unverifiable? Ouroboros with two heads? CAT?
Consequently becomes dragon of other that which loses its body of man or woman. Indicating what its drawings or its energy are not compatible any more with the human principle? Does the other take a role of regulator then, for the recadrer in this principle?
The dragon like symbolism of the excess or the going beyond of the human state?
By human state, does one have to more include/understand the viability of the individual in the terrestrial system, being human only that which the Earth recognizes? “
With the pleasant authorization of the cat….
Michel saint, parèdre of the lady.
It is at the request of the Archangel Michel, “chief of the celestial militia”, that Aubert, bishop of Avranches built and devoted a first church on October 16, 709. In 966, at the request of the Duke of Normandy, a community of Benedictines is established on the rock. The church préromane was then high there before the year millet.
In
XIème century, the Romance abbey church was founded on a whole of
crypts, on the level of the point of the rock and the first conventual
buildings were coupled with its northern wall.
In XIIème century, the Romance conventual buildings were increased in the west and the south.
XIIIème
century, a donation of king de France Philippe Auguste following the
conquest of Normandy, allowed to undertake the Gothic whole of the
Wonder: two buildings of three stages crowned by the cloister and the
refectory.
In XIVème and XVème century, the one hundred year old
war made necessary the protection of the abbey by a whole of military
constructions which enabled him to resist a seat of more than thirty
years.
the Romance chorus of the abbey church, ploughed up in 1421
was replaced by the Gothic chorus blazing at the end of the Middle Ages.
This
large spiritual hearth and intellectual were with Rome and Saint-Jacob
de Compostelle one of the most important pilgrimages of the medieval
Occident. During nearly thousand years of the men, the women, the
children came, by roads called “way of Paradise”, to seek near the
Archangel of the judgement, weighing of the hearts, the insurance of
eternity.
Become
prison under the Revolution and the Empire, the Abbey will require
important work of restoration starting from the end of the XIXème
century. It is entrusted since 1874 to the service of the historic
buildings.
Crowned geography of the Michael's Mount
One
can note that many old places of worship dedicated before to Anubis
were it then in Gargantua, Lug-Hermès-Mercury, Apollo-Bélénos, then in
the Michaelmas to finish.
the principal sanctuaries which are dedicated to him align according to a direction NO/SE, forming with the True north an angle of 60°.
Thus we find successively: Skellin Michael (Ireland), the Saint Michael' S Mount (England), the Michaelmas with the Danger of the Sea (France), Crowned It di San Michele (Italy), San Michele di Monte Gargano (Italy). This line passes besides by Bourges like by Delphes, before crossing the plate of Guiseh.
“A place crowned, before being used by the man
for its ritual, functions in a natural state like terminal point of the
forces of the ground and the sky. The ritual human ones, whatever they
are do nothing but reinforce the process and put it at the disosition
the alive ones. The building, which one poses there is an apparatus
which gears down still at the same time the natural phenomenon and the
human action which possibly proceeds there. This apparatus must be in
catch with the place. This is why one finds here Gothic and novel,
built at the same time. Both are not used for the same thing.
The place can do without from the men and the apparatus.
The temple cannot do without the men nor of the place.
The
men can use the place while doing without the apparatus. They can also
do without the one and other starting from a certain degree from
evolution.
The junction of the three
'place/man/apparatus " allows (sometimes) miracles, which do not exist,
being effects of natural laws intelligently implemented. “
The mount Saint Michel is vêtu at the same time of Romanesque art “female” or “black” or “terrestrial” concerning the symbolic system field of the dragon which incarnates the forces of the ground, and of Gothic art “male” or “white” or “celestial” pertaining to the world michaelic which represents the forces of the sky.
The mount Saint Michel is triple carries: carry between the ground and the sky since it is a hillock, a kind of omphalos, a pyramid, an axis… carries between the ground and the sea, the solid and the liquid, and carries between the alive ones and deaths, the abred and Shooting-Na-Nog. Mikaël is psychopompe…
this trilogy finds in architecture even mount, which reproduces the medieval structure of the companies, Celtic and Hebraic: the abbey one incarnates the sacerdotal function; under it the ramparts symbolize the warlike or royal function; and finally low, the village with its trade and craftsmen are the place of the producing function… the whole on the rock of Gargantua.

There would be to say so much… I would like to thank Mr Robert Graffin for his work on the mount.
Tombelaine
Contemporaries of the Armorican solid mass, the rocks of the Holy Mount Michel and Tombelaine appeared approximately five hundred million years ago. Resulting from crumpling hercynien, these two granulite cones, which answers the Dol mount a few kilometres from distance, count among the oldest mountains of the hexagon.
The
rock of Tombelaine, income to the state of nature, after centuries of a
rich person religious history and soldier was also a place of
meditation. As of the XI ème century, Anastase and Robert, two monks of
the strict observance, left the mount to found a hermitage there.
Later, Bernard the worthy one builds a priory there. Its church was
dedicated to Lying Our-Lady-the or Our-Lady-of-Tombelaine.
The name of Tombelaine can take several significances: nothing to see with Tumba Helena, legendary ethymology of the Middle Ages, but plustot Tumba Beleni, or falls from Belenos, or Dun Belen, mountain of Belenos. There is also the old form of Tumbellana, being able to derive from a root gaulloise, Tum, indicating a raised place, followed by a double diminutive ending, El and An.
The abbey
It
was cut down by three spans and was closed of a new neo-classic
frontage in 1780. On the terrase which remains in the place of the
three spans, one still can mesurerles three points of lowering marking
the passage of the Jordan and the entry in the rectangle.
The axis
of the nave corresponds to a subsoil water current, framed by two
another currents. the old frontage was built on another water current.
In the transept crossing one finds an overcome fault of a river, like
two other faults in cross. And to finish, a beautiful cosmo-telluric
chimney in the chorus.
To
finish, some sights of the room of the hosts, the room of the knights,
scriptorium, the room of the north wind. Of course, the strongest
places like the crypt of the 30 candles or under-ground Notre-Dame are
not opened with the public…
Some sights of the Michaelmas Mount…
The crypt of the large pillars
Built
of 1446 to 1450 on the site of the Romance crypt éffondrée in 1421.Les
pillars are 10, with a circumference of 6m. They sat with same the
rock. The pointed arches are connected low on the barrels of the
columns, by group of three, like going to draw as soon as possible a
thick flow with disparser. In fact, the energy field of environment is
so strong, in this room, which it is essential as fast as possible to
evacuate it under penalty of making the place intolerable. We are there
under the chorus of the abbey one, of which the pillars take again the
same structure. With the top, enormous the wouivre disperses in cosmos,
using many spark-gaps of waves.
The cloister
Arranged
between 1217 and 1228, it and of trapezoidal form. The southern side
communicates with the abbey one whereas the side is dessert the
refectory and the kitchens. In the west, it would have to be pressed on
a chapter house which built forever. The site of this door is closed
today of three picture windows looking at the sea. You thus have in
photograph the original and the copy, oil-base paint made by Mrs
Dulac….
Along
the interior perimeter court a gallery with gantry decorated with a
double line of dissymmetrical arcades connected by narrow voutes in
warhead. These white arcades rest on dark porphyry colonettes, 277.
This double line symbolizes number 2 expressing creation, the matter,
femininity. The provision in quincunx of the posts which form a
succession of tripods thus, causes the triangle and associates the 3 to
the 2, Saint Michel with the dragon.
